So, I guess I’m a late bird seeing as the WSOP has already started and I’m not there yet. I decided to stay home for my moms birthday since I havent spet much time at home lately. I realize more and more how boring it is to be home and that I enjoy travelling much more than most ppl. I think its a good quality to have. Not really sure why I’m so independent and not get too attached to people, but I’ve always been like that. Makes being a travelling poker player a lot easier
I’m very curious as to how I’ll deal with the whole WSOP thing. I hope that I’ll be fine playing live poker for every day for such a long time. I know its gonna be hectic and not a walk in the park. I already have some podcast and radio interviews lined up for when I get there, and thats only the start. I think it would be better if I could just relax and enjoy playing and not have to worry about other stuff, but since its my first WSOP and ppl are excited to see how I’m doing, I’m fine with doing so as long as I get to decide where and when its gonna happen lol.
Off topic, but I’m watching Eurovision Song Contest 2010 right now, and I must say Norway was a huge dissapointment. We had a decent song that ended up winning last year, so going from that to this.. kinda sad. Happy I wasnt there watching it live.
My appartment in Vegas is still not approved and I’m still waiting for confirmation that I can pick up the keys and that everythings cool. Looks like I gotta spend some nigths in a hotel when I get to Vegas. I’m leaving on Tuesday morning from Norway so I’ll probably be there Tuesday night.
Some other exciting news. A norwegian tv channel (NKR) is making a documentary about me, and I very unexpectedly got a phone call from the drector two days ago asking if I could fly to Bergen the next day to do some early shooting. Obviously I had no choice, so I did so, and we got some stuff done. They’re also coming here to Stavanger to film me with my family and friends (who I hope will cooperate and not too camera shy) on Monday. As if thats not enough, they’re also flying out to Vegas during the WSOP Main Event to either get some footage from that or if I happen to bust, the $15k at Bellagio. Hope everything turns out nicely cause its taking up a lot of time and effort on my part, which u all know I hate cause I’m rly lazy lol. Kinda felt it was my responsibility as the most well known norwegian poker player as the moment, to try to change ppl’s perception of the game in our country. Would be nice if more ppl understood that its not just gambling and its actually a very complex game with a lot of skill involved, and not what the media here make it out to be.
Hopefully next time I update I’ll have won a bracelet or something fun!
Till then,
take care,
Annette

May 30th, 2010 at 12:48 amBrilliant news on the documentary! And I bet it is a real advantage being so independant on tour. Does it matter if everyone is a complete stranger or is there usually always a friendly face?
Thanks,
Markus. -

May 30th, 2010 at 3:10 amHi Annette,
Just wanted to wish you luck in the WSOP! It will be an endurance test for sure. As for Eurovision, I haven’t been able to watch, but I’ve heard the song from Safura the girl from Azerbaijan and I think she might take it.
Once again good luck, hope you get some bracelets!

May 30th, 2010 at 3:37 amohh I just hope the documentary is positive. since the Norwegian law forbids poker and NRK is the right arm of the socialist goverment I hope they dont make it a anti poker documentary, just to score political points on it

May 30th, 2010 at 4:11 amHappy Birthday to your mom! Best of luck to you in the WSOP, Annette. BTW, you are one of the few poker pros I follow on twitter and I really enjoy your tweets. I used to follow a bunch of pro players, but not anymore. Let’s just say I’m more selective.
Don’t let all of the media obligations wear you down. You’ll have a lot going on the next couple of months with getting your apt and playing the WSOP. You’re the boss — don’t let media take advantage of your friendly personality. (Sorry for the lecturing — it dawns on me that I’m probably old enough to be your grandmother!) Take care. Be safe. Good luck! -

May 30th, 2010 at 7:07 amGL GL GL Annette! I have been looking forward to you playing in WSOP. I think you could really change the face of poker this summer. Women will see you being successful at the game, and they will come to it in droves.
I am thinking of coming to watch this summer. I am a teacher on summer break, so it is easy for me. I hope you don’t mind if I just say hi if I see ya!

May 30th, 2010 at 11:24 pmDear Annette I wish you the best of luck (i know you are one of the world’s top 10 tournament players but to win a tournament you need a little bit of luck). You won your WSOPE title with 77′s. You made the 7th place in the Aussie Millions this year. Three times 7 is 21. And you are 21 now. This is destiny. I’m sure u will win at least one bracelet this year (i placed a bet on you to win the 25k -6max tourny, hope you gonna win this one^^). I never bet when I think I don’t have a big chance to win. Show your A-Game and you will succeed.
best regards from your fan Baskendoyle

I think it’s sweet you hung out with your mom. very cool.
Don’t sweat the WSOP. Just play one hand at a time, as always, and you’ll do great.
We’re pulling for ya (we’d rather see you win than that Phil Ivey guy). -
